WICORizing the Day
Here at Palmcroft, students are held accountable during lessons to find various components of WICOR strategies throughout daily lessons in their classroom. WICOR is a teaching method that comes from AVID curriculum. WICOR stands for writings, inquiry, collaboration, organization, and reading. Students are to look for those integral parts throughout the day.
Students then pin post-it notes to the board sharing their evidence of WICOR strategies. This not only holds teachers accountable for including WICOR in their lessons, but it allows students to develop a deeper understanding of the standards while in search of WICOR strategies. The teacher notices that students are more aware of tools they use to succeed and what is needed to ensure sound learning. It also ensures that the teacher is checking that WICOR is present throughout the entire day.
