Using Assessments To Create Playlists
Have you considered creating playlists that are based on your assessments? In 7th grade Language Art, the teacher creates playlists to give students another chance to learn the skill or concept personalized to them. Each section of the test has its place on the playlist with activities that will give more instruction or practice for each level of proficiency. When students receive their graded assessment, they are given the opportunity to find the sections where they were not able to demonstrate proficiency and use the playlist to find activities designed to give students the required skills. The playlist offers different options for learning that allow students to choose how to review the information and includes another opportunity to show mastery. Success! Students were empowered to work on skills that were directly related to their own educational needs and were motivated to earn points that would not only help their grade but help them meet their personalized learning goals.
