We are hitting our stride here at Yuma District ONE. Students and teachers are working hard to reach individual and class goals. Many discussions have centered around kicking up student engagement and strengthening our students reading. There are two strategies that have been getting a lot of discussion time that addresses both. One is letting go of Round Robin Reading or Popcorn reading. The other strategy getting a lot of attention in the education world is using mentor texts to teach reading (and writing). This process uses examples of good writing to teach reading and writing skills.
